Las Vegas Raiders should pass on running back Le’Veon Bell
By Brad Weiss
The Las Vegas Raiders have all they need at running back to be a challenger in the AFC, and should pass on former All-Pro Le’VeonBell.
A few years back, the big sweepstakes in free agency would be which team would land former All-Pro running back Le’Veon Bell. When the former star released the cover of his rap album, it has dice on it, making Raider Nation think he was headed towards the Raiders new home in Las Vegas.
Well, Bell rolled the dice on the New York Jets, and after less than two years, the marriage has come to an end. The combination of Bell and head coach Adam Gase just did not pan out, and now, the former All-World back is looking for a new home.
While there is no doubt Bell is a talented player, and when healthy, he was arguably the biggest weapon in the NFL. A player who could make plays in the run, and pass game, Bell dominated opponents with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but that seems like a long time ago.
Booker and Richard solid behind Jacobs
As the Raiders get healthy during their bye week, I am sure there is going to be talk around the fan base in terms of the Silver and Black going after Bell. While there may still be tread on the tires, the Raiders have all they need at running back right now, as Devontae Booker and Jalen Richard are solid options behind star Josh Jacobs.
Booker has shown that he can run for tough yards, and Richard is dynamic in the passing game, giving the Raiders a good look behind the versatile Jacobs. In his own right, Jacobs is a great runner, and someone who can make plays happen in the passing game, so going forward, the Raiders should stick with the three-headed monster they already have.
Going into the bye week, the Raiders need to focus on getting healthy, and continuing to develop the chemistry they showed on both sides of the ball last week against the Kansas City Chiefs. Could Bell go somewhere and become a star once again? It is possible, but for now, Las Vegas has their stud back in Jacobs, and solid complimentary players behind him.
