Las Vegas Raiders 7-round 2021 NFL Mock Draft continues revamp on defense
Looking at the Raiders defense, there are still holes to fill, and one of them is in the interior of their defensive line. This has been an area the team has tried to address via draft and free agency in recent years, drafting Maurice Hurst and P.J. Hall back in 2018, and then bringing in the likes of Maliek Collins and Johnathan Hankins via free agency.
Heck, they even move former No. 4 overall pick Clelin Ferrell inside a bunch, and he had his best game as a pro on Sunday against Kansas City. Against the Chiefs, the team was without both Hurst and Collins, one being out due to COVID-19, and the other with an ailing shoulder, and had to rely on Kendall Vickers, who was outstanding in the game.
That showed a lack of depth up front, and everything we have seen from Collins so far does not suggest that he is a long-term option at defensive tackle. Hurst is budding into a legitimate player, and using the No. 15 overall pick on a talent like Marvin Wilson from Florida State, could give the Raiders two, young and talented players in the middle of Paul Guenther’s 4-3 scheme.
