5 biggest disappointments for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020

Overall, the Raiders have been a pleasant surprise in 2020, but there have surely been a few disappointments in the first five weeks of the season.

The Las Vegas Raiders have managed a 3-2 record in one of the most difficult five week starts in the NFL, surprising most people in the country. Las Vegas has been able to defeat some of the best teams in the NFL, but that has not come without some disappointment and struggles along the way.

Players like Derek Carr, Josh Jacobs, Darren Waller, and Trayvon Mullen have performed extremely well for the Raiders, but a few players and coaches have held the team back a bit at times, so let’s take a look at what five Raiders have been a disappointment so far.

Maliek Collins

One of the most hyped up signings the Raiders made this offseason was signing former Dallas Cowboy defensive tackle, Maliek Collins. The odd thing about the hype coming with Collins was that it came less from the fans and more from the coaches.

Before the season started, Jon Gruden stated that the defense would go as far as Collins was able to take it, and for the first four games of the season, that was right. The Raiders had one of, if not the worst run defenses in the league, and Collins recorded just three total tackles in those games.

Collins was expected to make a big difference in the defensive line, being able to control the middle and stop the run, as well as generate pressure on the quarterback. Unfortunately, Collins has not been able to do either of those things, and the defensive line even looked its best against the Chiefs, the one game that Collins was not on the field for.
