DT Sheldon Rankins – New Orleans Saints

Sheldon Rankins is an interesting case as he is just 26-years-old but finds himself very low on the pecking order for the New Orleans Saints defensive line. He has played in 55% of the team’s defensive snaps this season after playing in just 10 games and 30% of the snaps in 2019 so the team may be wary of his injury history.

Rankins has put up some great sack totals and pass rush numbers in past seasons with his career highs of 8 sacks and 15 QB hits coming in 2018 so if he is still that player he would be a nice addition to the Raiders defensive line. The other upside is that Rankins is still relatively young and is due just $1.6 million in base salary this year and there is no commitment after that.

Rankins would also likely come cheap as the Saints are ready to move on from him after four-plus years since taking him 12th overall in 2016. He is ready for a fresh start and the Raiders could be just the team that gives it to him.
