Las Vegas Raiders 2020 Week 7 review: 3 Studs, 3 Duds
The Studs
Derek Carr
Derek Carr has been the only constant on this team as he battled through a tough matchup and kept the Raiders in the game with no run game whatsoever. Carr was hit and harassed constantly all game long but came through with a solid stat line, going 24-36 for 284 yards with two touchdowns and an interception off a tipped pass.
Carr spread the ball around to 8 different receivers and threw an absolute strike to Nelson Agholor on the first drive of the game. Unfortunately, the Tampa pass rush got to him one too many times and the defense’s inability to get a stop when they needed it decided the game.
Carr is the team’s undisputed MVP and has done so carrying one of the worst defenses in the NFL. There is only so much he can do if the defense is giving up more than 35 points per game but he is giving it all. Many Raiders fans still doubt Carr and his ability but he is making them eat crow with his performances so far.
Nelson Agholor
Nelson Agholor had two drops that stalled some of the momentum on his killer season but he still had a great game considering the circumstances. Agholor ended the game with 5 catches for 107 yards and a touchdown but could have possibly had another one if he didn’t drop a tough catch in the red zone.
Agholor has been the signing of the season for the Raiders and his strong connection with Carr continued in this game. The Raiders will need to get more from their other receivers but they are getting plenty from Agholor and that has been a pleasant surprise so far.
Darren Waller
Darren Waller has been a steady presence for the Raiders as he put up another solid game against Tampa Bay. Waller put up 6 catches for 50 yards and a touchdown and 4 of those catches were for a first down.
The star tight end is the most dependable target that Derek Carr has and he has been targeted twice as often as the next player on the list. Waller did not have an explosive play against the talented Tampa defense but he should be getting plenty of chances to make big plays for the rest of the season.
