Defense and Special Teams

Daniel Carlson – Start ‘Em

I told you to sit Daniel Carlson because of the wind and early on it looked like I had the right idea as a 40-yard field goal was blown wide left by the insane wind. Carlson powered through it however and finished the game with 3 field goals and an extra point to put up double digits and finish in the top 10 for kickers in Week 8.

All three field goals were relative chip shots but there is no such thing as an easy kick when the wind is blowing at 35MPH so he deserves all the credit in the world. Now he gets to kick indoors after that insane week against a Chargers team giving up the 7th most to kickers. If you dropped Carlson last week as I did in a few leagues then pick him up and plug him back in to your starting lineup.

Las Vegas Raiders Defense – Sit ‘Em

If there was a week to start the Raiders defense as a streaming option it would have been Week 8 against the Browns due to the wild weather. The Browns managed just 223 yards of total offense and thanks to a combination of wind, Lamarcus Joyner, and the officials did not score a touchdown on Sunday.

The defense did not register a sack but did record a turnover with a fumble recovery early in the first quarter. They also held the Browns to under 10 points and as a result were sixth in fantasy points by defenses in Week 8. This should not be the case against a good Chargers offense so you can send them back to the waiver wire if you had them in your starting lineup.
