4 reasons the Las Vegas Raiders will beat the LA Chargers in Week 9

The Chargers can’t stop Josh Jacobs

Josh Jacobs had his best game of the season last week as he rushed 31 times for 128 yards against one of the best rush defenses in the NFL. Due to the weather, the Raiders made a commitment to pound the ball and Cleveland knew it but could not stop it.

The Chargers are near the bottom of the NFL in rush defense and are giving up 4.7 yards per carry and 112.3 rushing yards per game. This bodes well for the Raiders as they have one of the biggest offensive lines in the NFL and one of the best backs in Jacobs. The Raiders are near the top of the league in run percentage and will lean on their familiar formula to keep Justin Herbert on the sidelines.

LA has lead in most of their games this season so teams have not been able to focus on running the ball against them but the Raiders have built their identity on their ability to do so. They have allowed just two 100-yard rushers as a result of their big leads but we should expect a fourth when Josh Jacobs comes to town.

Even if Jacobs himself doesn’t reach that milestone, the Raiders have two competent backup running backs who should find plenty of room to run as well. Devontae Booker has been excellent in relief of Jacobs and will be a key player for the Raiders on Sunday.
