4 reasons the Las Vegas Raiders will beat the LA Chargers in Week 9

This is a must-win game for the Raiders

We can talk all we want about the Xs and Os and offensive and defensive rankings but often when it comes to divisional games, it comes down to who wants it more. The Chargers are on their way to another losing season and are on a unique timetable as they have a talented veteran roster but are also looking to develop their potential franchise quarterback.

They may have the overall roster to try and win now but their decision to draft Justin Herbert shows they have a long term plan in mind. The Raiders on the other hand have a veteran QB surrounded by young players but are in a position to win now. Las Vegas is in year three of the second Jon Gruden era and there are no more excuses for not making the postseason.

Derek Carr is playing at a high level, the offensive line is playing well, there are plenty of weapons, and the defense is doing just enough to keep the Raiders within striking distance. This is the year when the Gruden project has to produce tangible results and it starts with winning games like this.

The Chargers will not roll over by any means and they have the talent to win but the Raiders have to want it more because this game means more to them. If they are serious about breaking their four-year playoff drought this is a must-win game as the race to the wild card, or even the AFC West crown, continues.
