Recapping AFC West 2020 Week 9: Raiders move to 5-3

Raiders beat the Chargers 31-26

The Raiders and Chargers squared off in the only AFC West battle of the weekend, and of course it came down to the last play of the game with the Raiders coming out on top 31-26.  Close games are the only type of games these teams know how to play, and this one did not disappoint.

The Chargers went up 17-14 at halftime due to some questionable play calling from Head Coach Jon Gruden, as he had Derek Carr throwing with 12 seconds left, who then got stripped and the Chargers got a field goal to end the half.  Carr looked much better in the second half, as he threw two touchdowns and made plays happen with his feet.

The first touchdown pass game on a 45-yard strike to Nelson Agholor who continues to impress, and the second to Darren Waller, who made an impressive catch just snagging the ball out of the air.  The Chargers added a touchdown late to make it 31-26 before the last drive of the game.

In the red zone, quarterback Justin Herbert, who once again had a good game, went after Isaiah Johnson, who replaced stud corner Trayvon Mullen twice to end the game ,and Johnson came through for the Raiders after a replay correctly ruled the final touchdown incomplete.  The Raiders face the Broncos at home next week, as the Chargers look to end their losing streak against a hot Miami Dolphins team on the road.
