While fellow AFC West QB Patrick Mahomes is having an incredible season, Raiders QB Derek Carr deserves to be in the MVP conversation as well.

Coming into the 2020 NFL season, there was a lot of chatter around Las Vegas Raiders starting quarterback Derek Carr. The fanbases was torn in half as to what they felt about the seventh-year starter, as half feel he is the answer moving forward, while others believe it is time to turn the page.

Ever since Jon Gruden arrived for a second go-around as the Raiders head coach, the narrative has been that the two could not co-exist. A four-win season in 2018 did nothing but fuel the fire, and when the Raiders stumbled to close the 2019 season, many believed Gruden would use a first round pick to bring in his successor.

While the draft passed, and the team continued to say they were building around him, Las Vegas brought in Marcus Mariota to be his backup, and many wanted Mariota to start from the jump. After all, he did beat Kansas City in Kansas City that one time, and argument that looks downright ridiculous right now.

With that said, Carr needs to be in the MVP discussion heading into the second half of the season.
