Denver Broncos at Las Vegas Raiders: 3 Raiders to watch in Week 10
Damon Arnette
Damon Arnette has been out for the past few weeks due to breaking his hand even worse than it was during training camp, and a positive COVID-19 test. In his absence, Nevin Lawson has been on the field for pretty much every snap in place of Arnette, and that’s not good for the Raiders.
Lawson has been getting burned for multiple touchdowns weekly, and now that Trayvon Mullen has proven himself to be a shut down corner, the opposing offense has been targeting Lawson a lot, and been successful most of the time.
Before his injury, Arnette had started to play pretty well, and with the defense still continuing to struggle getting pressure, good cover corners are even more important. Arnette needs to come in and not exactly shut down his side of the field as Mullen has, even though I have the confidence he will do so, but he just needs to not allow big play after big play like Lawson has.
Also, some of the blame on Lawson should go to the defensive line as well because any NFL quarterback will carve up secondary if there’s no pressure. But there has been too many big passes aimed his way, and Arnette coming back significantly improves the secondary as a whole.
