Las Vegas Raiders complete 7-round 2021 NFL Mock Draft

23. player. 806. . Edge. Nittany Lions . Jayson Oweh

The Raiders are currently bottom five in sacks, quarterback hits, sack percentage, and hurry percentage. Which is a nice way of saying they are terrible when it comes to pressuring the quarterback and will need to improve in a big way if they ever hope of achieving sustained success.

Jayson Oweh has all the modern-day pass rusher tools with a great frame (6’5, 260lbs) and elite athleticism. Plus, his first step is incredible. Despite being raw, he has already shown plenty of intriguing flashes in his first season as a full-time starter at Penn State.

Against Indiana on opening week, Oweh recorded ten pressures by himself.

He would give the Raiders the explosiveness they have been lacking in their pass rush and ease the burden on players like Maxx Crosby, who has seen more attention from blockers this year. And despite Clelin Ferrell’s improvements, he just doesn’t seem like a guy you can count on to consistently get to the quarterback.

Oweh has the skill to be a high volume sack guy in the league, and the Raiders are in desperate need of a player with those abilities.

The interior defensive line could also be a worthwhile pick here, especially with Johnathan Hankins entering free agency this upcoming offseason. However, the further the Raiders move back in the draft order, the harder it gets to mock a good one. Oweh could end up being a player that flies up the board when April comes around, but at the moment, this seems like a good spot for him.
