Las Vegas Raiders run over Denver Broncos, win 37-12

Second Half

Derek Carr and the offense took the field to start the second half. Their drive would sputter however, after a crushing drop from Darren Waller on what would have been a huge gain. Waller made up for it with a 3rd and long catch up the seam a few plays later however.

It wouldn’t be enough to turn into a touchdown, but the Raiders were able to come away with a field goal to go up seven points.

The Raiders defense forced a three-and-out on the Broncos ensuing drive, and they got the ball back. Some hard running from Jacobs and Devontae Booker edged the offense closer to the Broncos red zone. Jacobs brought the Raiders home on this drive, bouncing an ISO lead run play when the Broncos defense only had 10 men on the field to score his 15th touchdown of his career and second of the game.

The defense continued to make clutch plays blitzing Broncos quarterback Drew lock and three plays into the next drive, a five-man pressure from the left side got Nicholas Morrow with a free run at the quarterback. Lock tried to throw to his hot route, but didn’t see Carl Nassib dropping to his right side, and threw the ball into the hands of the defensive end who rumbled the ball back on a return deep into Broncos territory.

Carr and the offense continued to look out of rhythm in the red zone and failed to punch the ball in, instead Carlson kicked another field goal to make the score 23-6 with the Raiders up three scores.

A fight erupted after Johnathan Abram continued to pick on Denver WR Tim Patrick. Patrick finally retaliated by throwing a punch at Abram, which started a brief fracas resulting in ejections for Patrick and Isaiah Johnson, who also threw a punch during the melee.

Both teams would trade punts, and the Broncos with their back to their own goal-line suffered yet another turnover. This time the referees ruled a Nevin Lawson strip as a fumble on the field, and the Raiders recovered seven yards from the end zone.

One play later, Booker would get his revenge against the Broncos for letting him walk in the off-season, and he would walk into the end zone for the go ahead score to put the Raiders up 30-6.

A last ditch effort from the Broncos offense would drive the length of the field passing the football. Aided by a questionable unnecessary roughness penalty against Abram, the Broncos would score on a touchdown pass to Daesean Hamilton.

The subsequent two-point conversion would fail and the score would be 30-12, Raiders up with little over six minutes remaining in regulation.

The Broncos would fail on their onside kick attempt and the Raiders would pound the rock the rest of the way. Booker rushed for 50 yards on seven carries including a cherry on top 23-yard score against his former team to put the Raiders up 37-12 at the two-minute mark.

In garbage time, the Broncos would try to salvage their beating by scoring again only to be stopped by Nick Kwiatkoski, who reeled in a one-handed interception to seal the game. Raiders defense combined for five takeaways, equaling their total for the entire season and the offense  put up over 200 yards rushing and four touchdowns on the ground.
