Las Vegas Raiders can make another statement on Sunday night

Carr’s revenge tour

This season has been sort of a revenge tour for seventh-year quarterback Derek Carr, who before the season said he was tired of being disrespected, and is showing a new swagger. He has been actively silencing his critics over the past 11 weeks after showing up in big games, winning on the road in Kansas City, leading his team to a victory in cold weather and airing the ball out with impressive deep throws.

This Sunday, the Raiders look to add another tally to the list of things they’ve been doubted on, sweeping the Chiefs.

Leading up to this week, the top story has been Vegas’ “victory lap” around Arrowhead Stadium, how the Chiefs ‘played down’ to the competition, and how the Silver and Black ‘won their Super Bowl’ after the Week 5 victory. While the media and the Chiefs have been actively discussing these ‘stories,’ the players have had their heads down working, preparing for Sunday Night Football, working hard to focus on the battle ahead and drown out the outside noise.

This Sunday night, all eyes will be on Las Vegas. Will Las Vegas rise to the occasion and prove that Week 5 wasn’t a fluke, or will they fall flat? History suggests the former, that the Raiders should have a good shot. Despite the Chiefs recent record of 20-17 vs Las Vegas, two of the three Raiders wins came after a bye week and in a primetime game. Hopefully these favorable statistics carry over to Sunday night’s game.
