Kansas City Chiefs at Las Vegas Raiders: 3 things we learned in Week 11

Derek Carr is an elite-level quarterback

We have covered this angle ad nauseum but coming into the season, Derek Carr had plenty of doubters and plenty of people calling for his job. He responded to this criticism by playing some of the best football of his career and continued to do so against the Chiefs for the second game this season.

Carr had another excellent performance on Sunday night, going 23 for 31 for 275 yards in three touchdowns. Of those eight incompletions, four were catches that you would normally expect His receivers to make but were instead dropped.

The veteran quarterback was surgical against a Chiefs pass defense that is ranked in the top half of the league and he continued to show his mastery of the Jon Gruden offense. He matched Patrick Mahomes blow for blow and with his team down 4 with less than 6 minutes to go in the game, Carr came through with an incredible drive to score the go-ahead touchdown.

Unfortunately for Carr, he can’t play defense in addition to tossing touchdowns and the Chiefs took the lead right back. Sunday night’s game will go down as a loss in his record, but it does so through no fault of his own. Raider Nation already knew that we had a great quarterback running the show, but Derek Carr proved once again that he can step up and deliver in the big moments under the bright lights.
