Raiders QB Derek Carr proved to be elite on Sunday night
Why Carr is in the conversation of the elite in the NFL
Here are a few more reasons why Derek Carr remains an elite quarterback for the Raiders.
Carr remains one of the most accurate passers in the league, completing nearly 80% of his passes. When adjusted for percentages, and removing spikes and intentional throwaways, he is No. 7 in the NFL behind Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers with 79.1 – Rodgers is 79.2.
In addition, Carr has a 132 passer rating on deep passing routes with 536 yards and five touchdowns. On those deep passes, he has a 53% competition percentage remaining one of the most accurate deep passers keeping in the same league as Russell Wilson and Drew Brees.
Finally, Carr is a leader. Carr made it clear he was going into this season with a vengeance commenting, “I’m tired of being disrespected.” This season, he’s had his best completion percentage, best deep ball percentage, best touchdown to interception ratio, and leadership improvements.
Derek Carr is clearly the leader of this team, and it’s time for Raiders fans and the NFL to recognize that they have a special guy playing quarterback for the franchise. He will finish his career re-writing the Raiders record book, and by the looks of how he is playing with all these weapons around him, a Super Bowl ring may be in the near future.
