Grading the Las Vegas Raiders rookie performances in 2020 Week 12

Damon Arnette

Cornerback Damon Arnette played only eight snaps before leaving the game with a possible concussion. While eight snaps are of course not enough to grade off of unless a big play either good or bad is made or given up in that span, they say the best ability is availability, and it has been a trend of Arnette not being available consistently.

When he has been on the field, Arnette has had some up and down performances, but more down performances. Like I said last week, cornerback is a tough position to develop at, especially in today’s offensive friendly league.

Still, the majority of the football world thought that Arnette was way over-drafted, and any Raiders fan that says they weren’t surprised by the selection isn’t being honest.

Time will tell whether or not that is the case, but if Arnette cannot stay healthy and contribute, the more impatient fans will be comparing him to Gareon Conley & DJ Hayden, the last first-round cornerbacks the Raiders selected back in 2017 and 2014 respectively. Arnette has more talent than both those guys, so hopefully, that will not be the case.
