Las Vegas Raiders will have star power out on both sides of the ball Sunday

Multiple players out in the secondary?

On the defensive side of the ball, the heart and soul of the defense will miss Sunday’s matchup against the Jets, as Johnathan Abram will not make the trip across the country either. Abram had been dealing with a knee injury heading into this weekend, and Gruden announced that he and defensive tackle Maliek Collins would be out.

That leaves the Silver and Black without their Alpha in the middle of their defensive backfield, and the team will now have to utilize Erik Harris more than they have in previous weeks. Abram is not only an incredibly talented safety, but he is also the player that makes this defense go, so not having him out there is going to hurt, even against a terrible Jets offense.

In addition to Abram, the Raiders saw Trayvon Mullen and Isaiah Johnson both not practice on Friday, meaning their secondary could be without multiple players against the Jets. New York does not have a ton of playmakers, but the Raiders are in dangerous territory of closing the gap in terms of talent for this one.

Even with these guys out, the Raiders still should win, as they looked like a playoff team before their debacle against the Falcons this past weekend. Derek Carr will have to lead this team to a victory without Jacobs, and on defense, the Silver and Black must once again utilize the next-man-up mentality.
