In a Miracle at Metlife, the Las Vegas Raiders beat the New York Jets in the closing seconds thanks to a Derek Carr to Henry Ruggs touchdown.
The Las Vegas Raiders needed to prove to the fans, and the NFL, that the loss against the Atlanta Falcons last week was a fluke rather than the standard. In a game that the Raiders looked to be running away with heading into the second half, the New York Jets came back strong and looked to be heading to their first win of the season with under two minutes left.
Heading into the fourth quarter, the Raiders looked to be in control, leading the Jets by the score of 24-13. From there, it looked to be the worst-case scenario for the Silver and Black, as their lead disappeared, and the Jets took a 28-24 lead with under six minutes left in the game.
That seemed to be plenty enough time for the Raiders to come back, but after a 14-play drive, the Raiders would give the ball back to the Jets after a turnover on downs. New York did not go for the win but instead went three-and-out, allowing Derek Carr to lead his team to a stunning victory.
Carr did just that, driving his team down the field, but it looked like he missed his chance for heroics on second down. During that play, he missed a wide-open Nelson Agholor, setting up a third-and-ten with five seconds left in the game.
In true Carr fashion, he led his team to the win, connecting with rookie Henry Ruggs III, who had a rough game for the game-winning touchdown. With the win, the Raiders moved to 7-5 on the season, and despite the roller coaster ride the 2020 campaign has been, they still control their own destiny heading into the playoff race.
