Las Vegas Raiders 2020 Week 13 review: Studs and Duds

Studs – Part 1

Derek Carr rebounds from his poor performance

Derek Carr followed up his worst performance of the year with one of his best as he dragged the Raiders to another win in dramatic fashion. Carr was abysmal against the Falcons but was excellent against the Jets, though he would be the first to tell you that he left some plays out there on the field.

The veteran quarterback finished the day with 381 yards and three touchdowns, including a fourth on the ground. Carr also threw an interception that came off the hands of Ruggs and played an excellent game in some tough weather conditions.

He missed a deep throw to Nelson Agholor on the failed drive down four, and made a poor throw on what we thought was the game-deciding play but was the reason the Raiders were in any position to win anyway.

In the face of constant pressure including being sacked twice and hit six times, Carr kept delivering pinpoint passes all across the field despite being let down by his receivers on a couple occasions. This is not to say that Carr played a perfect game by any means but he was a standout performer and could have had an even better game were it not for some conservative decision-making in the second half.

If the Raiders are to make any noise for the rest of the season and make it to the big dance, Carr will need to play at this level or better because he is not getting much help from his defense at the moment. He faces a much tougher test in the Indianapolis Colts next week but he will have plenty of confidence after this game and that game-winning touchdown.
