Las Vegas Raiders at New York Jets: 4 things we learned in Week 13

Derek Carr is still good even after a tough week

The Raiders’ offense was historically bad against the Atlanta Falcons, as they failed to score a touchdown, and turned the ball over five times to a defense that is middle of the pack at best. Derek Carr was one of the chief culprits in that failure as he threw a pick-six and fumbled the ball twice as he was being sacked in the pocket.

He had a chance to bounce back in Week 13, and he did just that and more against a Jets defense that was ranked 32nd against the pass though you would not have guessed it from their play on Sunday. The Jets defense was gashed by Darren Waller but aside from the Henry Ruggs touchdown, they were not beat deep and put plenty of pressure on Carr.

Carr was sacked twice and hit six times and was consistently pressured by the blitzing Jets but came through with an incredible performance. This piece may have been much different had the last drive not happened, but even without it, Carr had over 300 yards and three total touchdowns, but his bomb to Ruggs to win the game took his performance very good to great.

Carr finished the day with 381 yards and three touchdowns with a rushing touchdown added on for good measure. It was his best statistical performance of the year and it could not have come at a better time as the Raiders struggled to establish any semblance of a running game.

The veteran quarterback carried the team once again and it was good to see him back at his best after his struggles in Atlanta.
