AFC West 2020 Week 13 Standings: Chiefs clinch playoffs
Los Angeles Chargers, Divisional Standings
What more is there to say about the Los Angeles Chargers other than always bet on Bill Belichick against a rookie quarterback. Justin Herbert had his worst game as a professional quarterback, as he threw for 209 yards and two interceptions against a Belichick defense that was ready for whatever the Chargers threw at them.
The Chargers running game could not get going in this game either, as running backs Austin Ekeler and Kalen Ballage combine for only 70 yards, with Ekeler leading the way with 36 of them. The Patriots running game, defense, and special teams all dominated the Chargers, who suffered their worst loss of the season with a score of 45-0 to stay in the basement of the AFC West.
The Patriots’ special teams had the biggest plays of the game, as punt returner Gunner Olszewski had a punt return for a touchdown in the second quarter, then capped his day off with a 30-yard touchdown reception in the fourth. Devin McCourty picked up a blocked Michael Badgley kick at the end of the second quarter and returned it for a touchdown as well as the Patriots dominated from start to finish.
