Comeback/Most Improved Player of the Quarter – Denzelle Good
With all of the love that Nelson Agholor is getting for becoming the unexpected number one receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders, it’s time to give one of the big guys up front some love. Denzelle Good was not supposed to be in this position as a starter for the Raiders, but after Trent Brown and Sam Young were injured in Week 1, he has played multiple positions on the offensive line and played well.
Since that Carolina game in Week 1, Good has played in 100% of the offense’s snaps except for a handful in the blowout loss to the Falcons. He has played primarily at guard in relief of Richie Incognito but has also played tackle because of all the injuries the Raiders have dealt with at the position.
Good has a PFF grade of 55.9, which is not great, but once again we are grading on a curve for a player drafted in the seventh round who was signed as a backup to a perennial Pro Bowler. Also according to PFF, Good has given up just one sack this season and has been whistled for just four penalties so far, which is tied for 6th at his position in the NFL.
The Raiders face some talented defensive lines in the last quarter of the season so Good and the rest of the offensive line will need to be at their absolute best. They have struggled to keep Derek Carr clean this quarter but should be buoyed by the return of Trent Brown which should make everyone’s job a little easier.
Honorable Mention: Nelson Agholor
