Marcus Mariota improved his value to the Raiders

Mariota’s exploits on Thursday night not only got Raiders fans excited but it also probably perked up the ears of some NFL general managers. Remember, this is a guy who is still very young, is a former Heisman Trophy winner, a No. 2 overall pick, and has a road playoff win on his resume.

Also, he is perfect for the way the NFL is played now, as you have to have the ability to make plays with your feet from the quarterback position. Mariota was able to do that against the Chargers, as well as extend plays and make big throws down the field, something he was criticized for not being able to do in Tennessee.

All of this could lead to Mariota’s value picking up steam the rest of the way, and with so many teams struggling at the quarterback position, he could yield the Silver and Black some draft compensation in terms of trade. If he can put another start or two together as we wind down the 2020 NFL season, he will be valuable to the Raiders whether he stays in Vegas, or brings back some assets from another team.
