There is still plenty of work that needs to be done by the Las Vegas Raiders if they want to truly compete, and the draft will once again play a huge role.

Sadly, the Las Vegas Raiders are seeing their playoff hope dissipate after their loss on Thursday night to the Los Angeles Chargers. This means we as fans may once again have to turn our attention early to what can be done in the offseason to improve the roster.

When it comes to the draft, the Raiders still have plenty of holes to fill, particularly when it comes to the team’s defensive side. Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock have spent plenty of picks on the defense but have yet to draft a player who looks like he can be All-Pro, or even pro bowl material on defense.

And with the lack of film from this past season, they’ll need to do some serious work to make sure they are getting a full look at these prospects.

For this mock, I decided to fully use the Draft Network simulator since we really have no idea where the Raiders are actually going to end up picking. Plus, at the moment, we know even less as fans concerning many of the prospects, given this tumultuous college football season. It’s also fun to play GM, even for a few seconds, without all the other responsibilities that come with it.

It didn’t work totally in the way I’m sure most fans will want, but given what was on the board at each pick, we tried to look for playmakers to help make this team more explosive and opportunistic.

Here is the December 7-round mock draft.
