Derek Carr – Sit ‘Em

This is the first week this year that we have recommended sitting Derek Carr, and much of that has to do with his injury last week. The Raiders have reportedly not listed Carr on the injury report for Week 16, so expect him to start, but there is too great a risk of re-injury in the fantasy playoffs.

Carr had just two offensive drives against the Chargers before injuring his groin, but would likely have had a great day against a below-average defense. Marcus Mariota came in cold off the bench and diced up the LA defense with some great throws, so imagine the damage that Carr could have done.

The Dolphins are 26th in the league in fantasy points given up to quarterbacks and feature two of the best cornerbacks in the game in Xavien Howard and Byron Jones. If Carr was fully healthy, we would have suggested rolling the dice with him given his previous success,s but it might be time to park him in the garage for this game.

Carr and the Raiders offense have also been struggling in the red zone as of late, and the lack of touchdowns has been a sore spot in real life and in fantasy. The drives that used to end with goal-line strikes to Darren Waller or Jason Witten have been ending with field goals instead and we can’t afford that this week.
