Raiders Defense and Special Teams

Daniel Carlson – Start ‘Em

Daniel Carlson had himself another good game on Thursday Night Football as he continues to be Mr. Reliable for the Raiders. Some fans wish we got to see less of Carlson, and more of the offense on the field in the red zone, but the guy can only do what he’s asked to do.

Jon Gruden nearly ruined his perfect night as he trotted out Carlson to attempt a 65-yard field goal at the end of regulation but AJ Cole fumbled the snap and he never got the kick off, so was still perfect on the night. Miami has given up the 31st fewest points to kickers, as they are allowing the fewest points per game, but you have to keep it rolling with one of the best kickers in the game.

Las Vegas Raiders Defense – Sit ‘Em

The Las Vegas Raiders defense had another tough day in Week 15 as they were victimized by Justin Herbert and the Chargers offense, and could not get a stop when the team needed it most. They were without a whole host of starters on Thursday night and will be missing several starters this week as well.

The Dolphins are just 16th in the NFL in points scored this season, but given the Raiders’ struggles and their inability to force turnovers, we should expect them to have a big day against the Silver and Black. Maybe next year once the Raiders get a new defensive coordinator we can hope to see them play up to the level of a good defense.
