The Raiders win against all odds

Derek Carr’s status is still up in the air, as many believed he wouldn’t play this week, but he’s practiced in the leadup. Marcus Mariota could wind up starting, and Carr backing him up, but if Jon Gruden goes full-on with Carr, I think Carr’s numbers in this spot are going to give you some hope that the Raiders can win this game.

Carr may be 1-2 against the Dolphins in his career, and 6-9 against the AFC East, but against the East, he has also thrown for 3,783 yards, second-most for him among the eight divisions, posted a TD-INT ratio of 25-10, and also thrown for a passer rating of 92.1.

On Saturday games, Carr is 1-0, and in Primetime Games, Carr is 10-8, which is his best time window compared to all the others. Carr is best when the spotlight is on him in primetime believe it or not. I know the Fins will turn him over at some point, but I think the Raiders are going to pull through in this game. I believe we are in for a surprise, and if it’s Mariota that gets the nod, then Miami has limited tape on him to go off of this season.

If it’s Carr, I think he’ll be able to pull off the upset. When you’re as bad as I’ve been this year at picking the Raiders, 8-6 outright and 5-9 ATS, and Dolphins, 6-8 outright and 4-10 ATS games, you have more wiggle room to play a game like this dangerously.

Again, if it’s Miami that wins, give me the -3 as well, but I’m going with the Raiders to win this game 27-23 and move to 8-7 on the year. So, I’ll take the Raiders Moneyline, and spread, and also go over 48 points because even though the Fins force a lot of unders this year, the Raiders are a league-best 11-3 at hitting overs in their games.

I think we’re getting an upset here.
