The Las Vegas Raiders have made a habit out of drafting players in the first round out of big-time programs, and the 2021 NFL Draft will be no different.

The Las Vegas Raiders are playing the Denver Broncos this weekend, as they look to move to 8-8 and avoid another losing season. Nine games into the season, sitting at 6-3, nobody could have imagined this scenario, but here we are after another second-half disaster by this football team.

There have been some highs this season, including the play of quarterback Derek Carr, and the fact that Darren Waller and Josh Jacobs were named to their first Pro Bowl. However, there has also been so much bad, including the 2020 defense, which coughed up multiple wins late in games.

As we start to look towards the 2021 offseason, the NFL Draft is a high priority, as the Silver and Black hold only one first-round pick this year. They cannot afford to miss this selection, and based on what we have seen from Mike Mayock in the past, someone is coming to Las Vegas from a big-time program.

Raiders have a great opportunity in the middle of the first round

Friday, the College Football Playoff will kick-off, and you can be sure that the Raiders are going to be all over those games. Mayock has made a habit out of selecting players from Clemson and Alabama, two teams that will play in the Sugar and Rose Bowl, respectively.

They are also teams with the first-round talent on the defensive side of the ball, so do not be surprised if the player holding the Raiders hat in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft is a member of either those teams or the other two playing in the CFP this season.

Notre Dame has a standout linebacker in Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah who would be a perfect fit in Vegas, and we have seen Mayock go with an Ohio State Buckeyes player in the past as well. Friday is the most exciting day of the college football season, and there will likely be more than a dozen first-round draft picks on the field.

dark. Next. Raiders 2021 offseason must revolve around defense

For Raiders fans, this is a great opportunity to sit back and get a look at some of the top players in this year’s draft class, as a bunch of them will be on display all day long. This Raiders roster needs help on the defensive side of the ball in 2021, and Friday will be an opportunity to possibly see one of the solutions to that problem.
