Who’s Raleigh Texada?

Many Raiders fans might not know the name, but Raleigh Texada could be worth a look if he’s available in the middle rounds. The five-foot-ten, 188-pound senior could provide a boost in the pass-rushing department.

His collegiate career at Baylor was sturdy, having played in 33 games over four seasons. In 2020, Texada showed off his skills with his senior year being the most well-rounded of his career. He attained 21 solo tackles, one and a half tackles for a loss, one sack, one interception, and three passes defended.

His pass-rush grade of 88.5 is excellent per PFF, as is his versatility. Jon-Michael Salter of NFL Draft Diamonds recently highlighted Texada. “Texada has the versatility to play both inside and out. He can play in both press and zone. Raleigh has great hips, eye discipline, and the speed to stick with the fastest of receivers.

A versatile corner that can play all over the field who has the legs to keep up with the speediest of receivers sounds like someone the Raiders should be all over. If Texada is there in the third, maybe second round, why not take a chance?

Everyone’s expectations for the Silver and Black are that they will mostly go defense in this draft. They could easily address EDGE, interior defensive line, and still pick up Texada. What are your thoughts, Raider Nation?
