Raiders rookie CB Amik Robertson

Amik Robertson was picked in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft and many predicted that he would be one of the steals of the draft due to his production at Louisiana Tech. It has not quite worked out that way, as Robertson has rarely seen the field for the Raiders, and has not looked very good in his limited opportunities.

Robertson slipped to the fourth round partially because he is an undersized corner but many projected that he could eventually take over the nickel corner spot in Las Vegas. However, despite the rash of injuries at defensive back for the Raiders, Robertson has played in just eight games this season.

He has been on the field for just 35 snaps on defense in those eight games and has given up five completions on six targets in those limited snaps. Robertson has not made much of a case for himself to play more, but given that we already know what we have in Keisean Nixon and Nevin Lawson, it’s time to give the rookie corner a larger role this week.

That role could also be on special teams, as the former La Tech Bulldog showed plenty of tenacity and fight in his college tape but we have yet to see that in the NFL. Give the young defensive back some more run this week against a decent Broncos receiver corps and let’s see what he can do.
