Raiders UDFA rookie LB Javin White

Javin White was one of the stars of training camp, and we had hoped to see his combination of size and speed throughout the season, even if just on special teams. White, however, was kept mostly on the practice squad and was active for just four games this season, most recently the Saturday night matchup with the Dolphins.

In that game, White saw his highest snap total on defense and special teams with 11 and 14 respectively. White also made his first real contribution of the season, with a tackle for loss early in the first quarter.

He was on the field because the Raiders were down two starting linebackers in Nick Kwiatkoski and Nicholas Morrow due to COVID-19 protocols but still was not given much of an opportunity.

White is an intriguing player that was a defensive back in college at UNLV but has made the switch to the linebacker position in the NFL. He ran a 4.45 40 at 217 lbs, so he is a bit undersized at the linebacker position, but has plenty of speed to make up for that in the right situations. The Raiders need to give the kid a chance against Denver to see if he can be a contributor on both defense and special teams.
