3 New Year’s Resolutions for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021
By Brad Weiss
Raiders need to put together a real defense
For the most part, the Raiders’ offense has been terrific this season, as Josh Jacobs and Darren Waller have made the Pro Bowl, and Derek Carr once again put up solid numbers in Jon Gruden’s offense. Also, Nelson Agholor had a breakout season as the team’s WR1, and we saw some players really step up along a banged-up offensive line.
Turning our attention to the other side of the ball, this Raiders defense needs a facelift this offseason, and that includes bringing in a new defensive coordinator. Las Vegas has tried to build up the defense with early-round draft picks, and free agents signings, and for the most part, none of it has worked.
This offseason was very frustrating, as Cory Littleton and Maliek Collins were brought in to anchor the defense. Also, Damon Arnette was selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft and was supposed to bolster a young, but talented secondary.
Mike Mayock and Gruden have to focus nearly all of their attention on the defense this offseason, as they have only one first-round pick, but should have lots of money to throw around once they revamp the current roster.
