What could Maye bring to the Raiders?

The Raiders struggled mightily in the secondary this past season, and when Abram was out, they really had to mix and match back there. Abram has the talent to be a special player in the league, but he needs to keep his head on straight and avoid getting injured so often if he hopes to have a lasting career.

Behind him, the Raiders are thin, as described earlier by the fact Heath and Harris are just not NFL starters at this point. Sure, they could move Lamarcus Joyner back to safety, a position where he had tremendous success in Los Angeles, but the coaching staff does not seem to keen on pulling the trigger on that move.

Adding a player like Maye instantly makes this position group better, and with only a few top prospects at the safety position in this draft class, why not go with a guy who has had success at the NFL level. Teaming him with Abram gives the Raiders two solid starters at safety, something they have not had in a long time.

Las Vegas will revamp the defense in a big way this offseason, as the Raiders offense was one of the best in football this season, and were let down by the defense time and time again. Maye is going to be available, and if the Raiders can move some money around, Mayock and company should make him a priority.
