Raiders TE Darren Waller: Stud

Darren Waller deserves to be in this category every week, as he continues to be the best player on either side of the ball for the Raiders. Waller was an absolute nightmare for the Broncos, as he finished the day with nine catches on 10 targets for 117 yards, a touchdown, and the game-winning two-point conversion.

When Waller and Derek Carr get their connection going there is very little anyone can do to stop them and the Broncos were no match. Even Carr’s first interception should have been a completion had he taken some of the mustard off the pass to Waller, but it was a mistake for both players that can be forgiven because of how productive their connection usually is.

The superstar tight end also made history in this game, as he set the Raiders record for most receptions in a season with 107, beating out Tim Brown’s record of 104 set all the way back in 1997 when Waller was just five years old. It’s an incredible achievement for an incredible player and it is yet another milestone for the former Ravens practice squad member.

The Raiders have Waller on an incredible deal for at least another three years, and they would do well to keep him around for much longer than that. This single-season reception record is just one of many that the first-time Pro Bowler will break if he continues to play at this level.
