2000 NFL Draft: Raiders add Kicker Sebastian Janikowski
The Oakland Raiders made a shocking pick in the first round of the 2000 NFL Draft, as they selected Florida State kicker Sebastian Janikowski. At the time, the pick was lauded by Raiders fans as just another blown first-round pick, but Seabass soon became a larger-than-life character for the organization.
The all-time scorer in Raiders history, Janikowski was known for his big personality, and his big leg, as it seemed that no field goal was too long. While he was a solid kicker from deep, he did struggle in big spots for the Raiders and would miss some big chippies, causing the fan base to cringe.
However, you can not get the kind of production the organization got out of him with the No.17 pick, and not consider it a win. This is a guy who came to play every Sunday for more than 17 years and earned a Pro Bowl nod along the way.
He was never considered the best kicker in football, but he was a Raider through and through.
