During Super Wild Card Weekend, it was announced that ESPN would be airing a new 30 for 30 featuring late Raiders owner Al Davis.

For fans of the Las Vegas Raiders, Super Wild Card Weekend is just another reminder that the team failed to make the playoffs once again. In fact, since the 2002 NFL season, the Raiders have made the playoffs only one time, and the past two years have been even more disappointing due to the way the team finished up.

In both seasons, the Raiders got out to a strong start despite a tough schedule, only to falter down the stretch and find themselves on the outside looking in at the playoffs. This season, the Raiders actually did not have a losing season, something that has been the theme since that 2002 season, but their .500 finish just was not good enough after a 6-3 start.

So as Raider Nation sat and watched the matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans on Sunday, there was likely a lot of what-ifs to go around. However, the mood was brightened for a quick moment, as it was announced by ESPN that a new 30 for 30 would be coming out, and it would revolve around Raiders owner Al Davis.

Below is the Tweet from 30 for 30’s official Twitter:

Davis had a win-at-all-costs mentality when he was running the organization, and his mantra, “Just Win Baby,” is still the battle cry for the franchise. Heck, even our website is an homage to the saying, and it goes without saying that Raider Nation cannot wait for this to be aired three days before Super Bowl LV.

Davis’s son, Mark, now owns the Raiders, and under his leadership, the franchise has found what should be a forever-home in Las Vegas. Will Derek Carr lead the team to the playoffs next season, a big offseason will be needed before then, and before all the craziness of free agency and the draft get started, I cannot wait to see this documentary surrounding AL.
