Mike Hilton and Troy Hill could help the Raiders as well

Both Mike Hilton and Troy Hill would be excellent additions all things considered. Both are proven commodities when it comes to defending the slot, and more importantly, they could come relatively cheap per PFF.

The 26-year-old Hilton had an impressive 2020 for the Pittsburgh Steelers, as he accumulated three interceptions, seven passes defended, two fumbles recoveries, and landed five quarterback hits. Also, per Pro Football Reference, Hilton was used effectively as a Blitzer, he was called on 147 blitzes these past three seasons.

Showing his effectiveness, Hilton totaled five and a half sacks along with 17 QB pressures in those blitzes. Depending on who the next Raiders defensive coordinator is, Hilton would be an excellent edition if the money’s right.

As for Hill, he had a noteworthy 2020 campaign for the Los Angeles Rams. He generated three interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns totaling 119 yards in the process. Always looking to make a play, Hill caused a forced fumble and recovered two for the Rams. When Hill switched over to the slot position, he truly shined per PFF.

There, Hill put together an impressive coverage grade of 75.7 and he also saw action in blitzes, totaling 20 plays.

Both Hill and Hilton would be nice additions as long as Raiders general manager Mike Mayock and company can finesse them into favorable contracts. Considering how many expensive contracts are still on the books, the team’s in no position to overpay for talent right now. If the Raiders can’t spend on a cornerback, the NFL draft could help!
