Recapping the 2020 Las Vegas Raiders: Quarterbacks
By Brad Weiss
Did Derek Carr exceed expectations?
Heading into the 2020 NFL season, there was only one big expectation for the Raiders, and that was to make the playoffs. At first, it seemed like it was going to happen, as they got out to a 6-3 start, only to falter down the stretch once again.
For Carr, the numbers were certainly there, as he had one of the better statistical seasons of his career, but it was not enough for the Silver and Black. The defense was atrocious all season long, and despite the offense putting up a ton of points, they still barely avoided another losing season.
Carr had a great season, there is no doubt about that, and he is definitely one of the top-10 quarterbacks in the league. However, when you have been the starter this long, you are expected to lead your team to the playoffs, and for the fan base, and Carr, expectations were not exceeded in 2020.
Will changes be made at the position, not likely, but once again, the pressure is going to be on Carr to finally get this team back to the playoffs in 2021.
