What needs to change in 2021?

Honestly, the Raiders actually have a good situation at quarterback heading into 2021, as they have a top-10 player at the position and a legitimate backup. While Carr threw for over 4,000 yards for the third straight season in 2020, we also got to see a glimpse of Marcus Mariota, who had the fan base buzzing after a stellar performance against Los Angeles when Carr went down with a groin injury.

The issue is, that the Raiders have a ton of needs heading into 2021, including on the defensive side of the ball, so they may not be willing to continue to pay Mariota to back up Carr. The veteran showed he has some value with his performance against the Chargers, so maybe he can be used to bring back some assets via trade this offseason.

For Carr, he needs to continue to try and make plays happen with his legs, as there were times this season where there was a lot of green grass in front of him, and instead, he threw the ball into the ground. Gruden likes his quarterbacks to make plays with his feet, and thus far, those plays have been few and far between from Carr.

The Raiders will likely stay put at quarterback this offseason, especially when it comes to the starter, no matter how much noise you hear from national media that they are going to move on from their veteran starter.
