Safety. Horned Frogs . Trevon Moehrig. 81. player. 872.

I’ll preface by saying I’d be shocked if a player of Trevon Moehrig’s ability was available in round three, but this is a weak safety class, so you never know. Honestly, Moehrig could seriously be considered in the second round if the Raiders have already addressed their top needs in the first round.

Moehrig is the reigning Jim Thorpe Award winner and, over the last two seasons, has led college football in pass breakups and has seven career interceptions. The Raiders are in desperate need of playmakers on the back end of their defense and will also need a rangy free safety in Bradley’s Cover 3 scheme.

With good size at 6’2 and 202 pounds, Moehrig could handle the middle of the field, which would allow Johnathan Abram to play more at the line of scrimmage where he is best. Also, with Moehrig and the possibility of Owusu-Koramoah, the Raiders could experiment with practically three safety lineups consider the athleticism of all three players.
