3 Interior defensive linemen the Las Vegas Raiders need to consider
There are many ways the Las Vegas Raiders can address the defensive line’s interior with the offseason already here. Raiders’ general manager Mike Mayock and head coach Jon Gruden are no doubt doing their homework on NFL draft prospects, and while drafting a rookie, or two is plausible, another viable option is free agency.
Financially speaking, there’s a lot of work to do for Raiders brass, especially when it comes to deciding who’s staying or going. Along the defensive line, you have Johnathan Hankins, one of the best run-stuffers in the NFL, but unfortunately, he’ll command more money, and deservedly so, as he posted a 68.8 Pro Football Focus run defense grade.
You also have Maliek Collins, who had an incredibly disappointing season in Las Vegas after much ado in the offseason. He too is expected to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Maurice Hurst has shown promise but only in small samples, or instances if you will. Though he isn’t due to be a free agent until 2022, perhaps, it’s time to move on.
Though not a certainty, this unit could end up looking very different next season. In free agency, three veterans would help Bradley’s unit in the short-term while young talent is groomed. Let’s take a look.
