John Simpson – OG

After Richie Incognito suffered an injury in Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints, rookie John Simpson would start in his place for the remainder of the game, and the following week. He was up and down against the Saints, before struggling throughout the game against the New England Patriots.

Simpson would see action in three more games, including a start in the final game of the season against the Broncos. Overall Simpson’s play left a lot to be desired. Simpson is known as a mauler but was too often overpowered and pushed back by a defensive lineman.

Simpson did, however, show the ability to pull and block in the open field at times. He finished the season giving up a single sack and committed 4 penalties. This resulted in a poor grade of 45.8 per pro football focus.

As I said regarding Amik Robertson, remember that this is based on his performance when he hit the field and not his grade as a pick overall, which may turn out to be a good selection and still definitely makes sense in retrospect.
