Raiders FA WR targets: Kenny Golladay – Detroit Lions

Speaking of players that are worth the trouble, Kenny Golladay is another target that would step in as the Raiders number one receiver as soon as he put pen to paper. Golladay suited up for just 5 games in 2020 due to injury but in his previous two seasons put up 135 receptions for 2,253 yards and 16 touchdowns. He has tremendous size at 6’4″, 214lbs and has the speed to take the top off of defenses as well.

Even in his injury-shortened 2020 he was productive with 20 catches for 338 yards and two touchdowns in 4 full games. Golladay has been Detroit’s number one receiver since his second year in the league in 2018 and he would be in line for a big payday if the Lions either don’t sign him to an extension or place the franchise tag on him.

The rumors point to Golladay being tagged by the Lions as they look to rebuild once again under a new head coach and general manager for the second time since 2017. At least Golladay has had the luck of playing with a great QB in Matt Stafford unlike Allen Robinson but the prospect of playing for an established head coach and front office could intrigue him.

Golladay may not have the option of exploring the open market if Detroit chooses to place the franchise tag on him but he would be an incredible acquisition for Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock. He is expected to garner contract offers in the $20 million per year range if he was to hit the open market and just like Robinson, he would be worth the money if he is able to stay healthy.
