Raiders FA WR targets: Corey Davis – Tennessee Titans

It is safe to say that Corey Davis did not live up to be the player the Tennessee Titans hoped he would be when they drafted him fifth overal in the 2017 NFL Draft. Davis was picked that high after an absurdly productive college career where he totaled more than 300 receptions, 5,000 yards, and 50 touchdowns in four years at Western Michigan.

In four years with Tennessee, Davis has put up respectable numbers but has never become the dominant threat they hoped he would be. Davis had his best season of his career in 2020 with 65 catches for 984 yards and five touchdowns in 14 games, but he benefited greatly from being the number 2 receiver behind AJ Brown.

So what is next for the young receiver after the Titans declined his fifth-year option? He could of course return to Tennessee for another go-around but on a cheaper deal or he could make his way west to join the Las Vegas Raiders. Davis has excellent size at 6’3″, 209lbs and could develop in to that number one receiver the Raiders have been craving.

The former Western Michigan Bronco is one of the younger receivers on this list, and he has steadily improved every year in the league. His yards per reception average has increased by nearly a yard every year and his catch percentage has gone up which shows that he is learning how to get more open as he grows as a player.

Davis would be a player that could stay in Las Vegas long term if he were to finally become the player the Titans wanted him to be and he is in a place in his career where he can still prove that he deserved to be drafted so high.
