Raiders safety Johnathan Abram should be excited about Gus Bradley
Heading into his rookie season in 2019, Johnathan Abram was a player that members of Raider Nation were very excited about. A star during the team’s run on HBO Hard Knocks, Abram brought that old-school Raiders feel to this defense, and would be counted on to turn around a porous defense in Oakland.
However, Abram got injured in Week 1 and never returned, making the 2020 season really his rookie campaign. There were some bright spots this past season, but way too many mistakes, something that just cannot happen when you play the safety position at the NFL level, or really any level.
If there is one thing Bradley knows how to do, it is to build up the secondary, as evident by his stamp on the Seattle Seahawks Legion of Boom defense. That secondary was absolutely loaded, and Bradley was a big reason why they were able to come together as a unit and dominate the NFL landscape.
In Abram, he gets a player loaded with talent, but someone who needs to be coached up big time coming into Year 3. Abram should be very excited that Bradley has arrived, and in 2021, his development is going to be crucial to the success of this defense.
