One of the biggest stories in the NFL since the end of the regular season has been the dissatisfaction of Deshaun Watson with the Houston Texans organization. Watson is reportedly upset that his opinion was not considered when the Texans hired new GM Nick Caserio from the New England Patriots.

The Texans are also looking for a new head coach, and Watson feels that history will repeat itself, and he will once again not be heard when they make that decision.

So what does this have to do with the Las Vegas Raiders? Watson’s open contempt for the Texans has to lead to rumors and reports that he will waive his no-trade clause, which is very rare in the NFL, to move to certain teams.

Many believe that one of those suitors could be the Las Vegas Raiders who, as any good GM will tell you, are always looking to upgrade at all positions including quarterback.

Mike Mayock has shown a great affinity for players from Clemson, drafting guys like Clelin Ferrell, Trayvon Mullen, John Simpson, and Hunter Renfrow in recent years, and has praised them for their leadership and professionalism which the Raiders believe was developed at the college level. The leader of those elite Clemson teams that either made the title game or captured the national championship was Deshaun Watson and bringing him in would be quite the coup for Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock.

Let’s explore what Watson brings to the table and whether Mayock and company have the resources to capture their biggest prey to date.
