Raiders have seen a lot of changes at wide receiver since Renfrow arrived

Since Renfrow arrived with the Silver and Black, Mayock and Gruden have been trying to piece together the wide receiver room. After trading away Amari Cooper during the 2018 season, Gruden has brought in a bunch of different options at wideout, trying to make the position one of strength.

2019 season

Heading into the 2019 NFL season, the wide receiver group in Oakland had a ton of buzz surrounding it. The franchise had gone out and made a big splash by trading for Antonio Brown, a player considered to be a sure-fire Hall of Famer, and one who was still playing some great football. Behind him would be Tyrell Williams, a deep threat during his time with the Chargers, giving the Raiders a tremendous one-two punch atop the depth chart.

We all know how this one played out, as Brown never took a snap with the Raiders, and after a solid start to his Raiders career, Williams battled injuries all season long. That led to the Silver and Black relying on their fifth-round pick in a big way, and Renfrow responded by hauling in 49 catches for 605 yards, finishing his rookie campaign with back-to-back 100-yard games.

2020 season

Coming into his second season with the Raiders, Renfrow is no longer a mystery, proving to be an automatic third-down guy, and a favorite of Carr. Las Vegas bolstered the wideout group once again this past offseason, selecting Henry Ruggs III in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, and signing Nelson Agholor in free agency, but once again, Renfrow proved to be a constant for the Silver and Black.

He built off his rookie season by appearing in all 16 games, hauling in a career-high 56 balls for a career-high 656 yards. Most importantly, he racked up over 30 first downs for the Silver and Black once again, frustrating teams who could not find a way to stop a 5-foot-10, 185 pound wide receiver.

Nobody knows what the Raiders have in mind for the 2021 season in terms of the wide receiver group, as they could bring back Tyrell Williams or Nelson Agholor, and we still have to see what the team will get out of Henry Ruggs III and Bryan Edwards. No matter who is around him, Renfrow will continue to produce, and be the team’s top option on third down.
