Las Vegas Raiders 2020 season grades: Wide Receivers

The Las Vegas Raiders got a mixed bag from their wide receiver group in 2020 with some players exceeding expectations while others fell short.

Back in August 2020, the Las Vegas Raiders looked to have an excellent wide receiver group on paper. They had two veterans in Tyrell Williams and Nelson Agholor, two highly touted rookies in Henry Ruggs and Bryan Edwards, and a young player in Hunter Renfrow that exceeded expectations in his rookie season.

The position group was going to go from a weakness in 2019 to a strength of the team in 2020, but the end result was somewhere in between. The first blow to the group was projected starter and $11 million man Tyrell Williams being placed on injured reserve, forcing some reshuffling at the position.

Other blows to the position came throughout the season through injuries and issues with COVID-19, which hurt the team due to a lack of consistency at the position. Despite the injury issues and the loss of the number one receiver, there were some massive bright spots at the position and some massive plays that were made by each receiver.

The Raiders fell short of the playoffs in 2020, but the production at receiver was a huge positive and a welcome change from the struggles of 2019. There were of course some negatives that may have come from unrealistic expectations, but let’s take a dive into each of the receivers that contributed in 2020, and determine who fell short and who made a big impact for the Raiders’ offense.
