This is a crucial offseason for the Las Vegas Raiders, as they will need to make some big changes to end the team’s four-year playoff drought. The team is entering year four of the Jon Gruden era, and year three under GM Mike Mayock, and there needs to be some success for both men to justify holding on to their jobs.

Gruden of course has the 10-year contract on his side, so we can’t see him losing his gig anytime soon, but Mike Mayock has to be feeling the heat from two straight non-playoff seasons. The easiest path to success for the Raiders is to make the right personnel decisions and that starts with players that are already on the team.

The Raiders have several players currently on the roster who are viable cut candidates, and there are a few players who just became free agents and could return to the team. Of the cut candidates, there are several who should still be on the team come 2021, and the Raiders would be wise to bring back a player or two that is set to hit the free-agent market despite their struggles in 2020.

As we explore these names, remember that this is not a list of players like Nelson Agholor or Nicholas Morrow, who played well and are no-brainers to bring back, but rather this is about players who had down years but should still be Raiders next year.

Let’s dive in and begin with the biggest name, literally and figuratively, on the list.
